It was great to attend this year’s QuickBooks Connect in London’s Tobacco Docks. For many accountants and SMEs, QuickBooks has become ingrained at the very core of every working day. And simplifying business life and accelerating growth were themes explored over the course of the conference - through interactive workshops, networking sessions and presentations from business magnates and industry experts. For us, as an accredited QuickBooks add on partner, it was a time to catch up with customers and hear first hand from the QuickBooks community about the critical issues which matter to them - including the disruptive impact of technology in business.
We share the view that there’s no stopping the pace of digital development and its positive impact on our lives, at home and in the office. In terms of accountancy, once a sector slow to change and rooted in tradition, automated data entry solutions are rapidly being adopted. This is because they’re enabling users to drive major time and cost savings by eliminating the burden of certain practices associated with traditional bookkeeping and manual data entry. Especially as a small business when resources may be tight and time is at a premium, management are turning to smart solutions to phase out these processes.
We developed AutoEntry to be a solution which helps business do exactly that. AutoEntry works by capturing and analysing scanned and photographed purchase and sales invoices, receipts, bank and card statements and more, automating data entry into QuickBooks software. AutoEntry captures tax summaries by default and if requested, full line item details including description, quantity and unit price. AutoEntry also remembers how you categorise your expenses such as the relevant supplier account, nominal account and tax code without ever creating duplicate supplier accounts or posting duplicate invoices into QuickBooks. AutoEntry even matches invoices to purchase orders where applicable.
Today, it’s almost impossible to run any type of business without relying on technology to digitise processes, save time and cut costs. With the aforementioned efficiencies afforded by running this type of software, and judging by our growing customer base, it’s a certainty that traction will only increase as more businesses realise the significant benefits of using automated bookkeeping tools. A key message across the two days and as echoed by guest speaker, Lord Sugar, is that growing your business is about focus, though it’s vital not to get too bogged down in the weeds. Prioritise the issues that matter - such as where your cash flow is coming from, hitting KPIs and effective customer engagement. Free up your time where possible by reducing unnecessary paperwork and letting smart tools manage the books.
QuickBooks is a market leader in driving innovation in this field and we were privileged to be part of the 2017 event. We look forward to next year, see you there!
